The following are excerpts from their acceptance letters from the very successful Miiyuupimaatisiiwin INTENSIVE SUMMER PROGRAM @ Shaapuwaasaayaao Pimaatisiiwin Foundation at the coastal Campus University in Istchii.

Ensuring the spirit of the human being is respected while remaining balanced and fully conscious within its cosmos while decolonizing the spiritual, emotional, physical, psychological, and social consequences where colonization, the Indian Act and its subsequent residual aftermaths, has deeply fragmented a multigenerational gap of violence, massive social discrimination against the Rainbow Clan, perpetuated chaos that hinders Miiyuupimaatisiiwin for all Iiyiyuuch. Akuut maak kaat uutch’jipiiyiich Donald Jitjaan uu jitjaauun, kiiyaa Nicki Moisseaux niishtim kaa kuujipuuwaat Mishishuu Iiyiyuu. Nimauj paaiik auch iitaaii’tuumj kiiyaa jaa maamuu taaoshkaatuuj uuyaa Wiikupiishaakin Maaskinaayuu… [This is where Donald Jitjaan's jitjaauun began, also Nicki Moisseaux encounters the Saber Tooth. None would expect to cross paths on the Rainbow Road...]

Aashikuum aat uutaaokshiij, kaa jii maamuu pimshkaaj naataa aakaamch siibiich Jaymsheej (James Saahuun & James Taayuu), Nickeej (Moisseaux & Mishishuu), Jaaskeej (Dawn Nipii-Oso & Donald Jitjaan), kiiyaa injii KaaJeesij (Jennifer Nipii-Oso & Roxy Atkinson-Thunderstar).

Mishuu kaa daaj aakaam’ch, miin kaat maanjaaj uu maa’ki’hiimwow, aakuunj Jaymsheej kaa jii kuutuuwaaj intaa naaspaatimch aa siniiau’kaaich.

Teeyuu kaa wisik Roxy kiiyaa kaa jii aaii’kuunaa’jaao Jen. [Roxy boils tea and Jen is making bannock.]

Tiiwaa’ch kaw wii kaat jis’tuutaat Nicki (Moisseaux) naataa tuuk’taaoch kaa siniiau’kaaij uujeeyuu. Waanjisjit uu niimuutaan. Muuk uu wiiuutish, uu misinaapiskihiikin, kiiyaa uutaatipuun jii ti’kuunuum.

Nicki Mishishuu kiiyaa Donald jii intuuwaapituumij mit’ bititaa intaa mishtuukskaaich…

They reached the firewood cache area, slightly further away from the campsite, both start uncovering the tarp which covered the firewood cache and start splitting the logs in half as they prepare the quart needed to cook supper. Miss Mishishuu has had a crush on Donald since the first year of their program but never expressed her feelings until the perfect moment where she asks him the paradoxical question:

-“Aye, shjisjin aa niishtim kaa jiskuutimaasuuwiik uut SPFU…” says Mishishuu to Donald in a nervous tone.
-“Neyhey. Saash muuk naauu ipuun naa…” Yuu Donald as he pauses from splitting wood beside Mishishuu work area to wipe the sweat off his perfectly maintained brows.
- Asserting her composure then steps forward with her perky chest out, “jik kawjimtin maa jaakawn.”
- She finally pops the paradoxical question; “Nicki Tuuktaan maa?”

Donald suddenly becomes nervous with uncertainty yet confusingly excited because he never received this favour from anyone before, especially from such a gorgeous human being like Miss Mishishuu.

- Donald head nods “mm” in accordance; they begin awkwardly making out with Mishishuu jumping the eager lead. Then she goes for the beaded belt buckle, Donald is overcome by a surging waking energy, turning his state into a feverish nauseating vertigo effect which made him react by pushing her away, screaming out loud, from him as he graciously twirled around to vomit then lose consciousness in a stylish dramatic manner. 

The rest of the gang at the campsite overheard the scream and ran towards their direction. They find Nicki sitting on the ground with a blank expression on her face, and right beside was Donald’s gracious but unconscious body. She explains what just happened and they all started rolling on the ground laughing as Donald slowly comes back to reality with a new sense of being. Thus this is how Nicki Mishishuu became Nicki Tuuktaan and Don Jitjaan, well, found his inner jitjaauun.

Jaymsheej assist Don back on his feet and they made their way back to the campsite with firewood. Miss Mishishuu feels somewhat upset at the whole confusing ordeal, failing to realize that her crush eventually led to helping him discover his way to the Wiikupiishaakin Maaskinaao, her bruised ego prompts her to go take a hike to cool off her embarrassment and notices that Nicki Moisseaux forgot her bag by the portage path. She picks up Nicki’s niimuutaan along with some fresh bannock, a thermos filled with fresh tea and heads up towards the hill where the Jiishuu’k SPFU observatory is setup. // part 1 of 2

The Chronicles of Jim Saahuun, Oct.20.11

While Jim Saahuun is still in recovery and out of the Intensive Care Unit, Saahuun contemplates the time lapse between his last conscious memory and the moment he awakened from his coma in the hospital.

His uncle Jimmy Ju, from Whapmagoustu, enters the room carrying with a container of bear grease, sweat grass, including a very large fruit basket from ediblearrangements as his attending physician, Dr. Jack Wayne Showagon, completes his round and says that "he is recovering very well and should be released as soon as his results are in from the scans and blood work are available."

Saahuun's room is filled with various bouquets, get well soon cards, goody bags from his friends, colleagues, and cousins. A smudge bowl sits beside his bed and while his iPhone is recharging beside it.

"Wachiya James, ji miiyuubiin aa?" (Greetings James, how are you doing?) says Jimmy Ju.

"Keebaw, nashtaabaw ashk nuwii jeeshkawyaaptaan apsheesh kiiyaa daw mishao dipaajimuun maakawj kaa jeeshkawnaashinyaan." (Yes, I am still feeling quite dizzy however I have a great story to share with you while I was in a coma) replies Saahuun.

"Daabaw ah? Jaakawn meen kaa uupuuwaatim maakawj kaa neepich?" (Really? I would like to hear what you have dreamt this time over the course of the summer [his coma lasted the entire season of a summer]) - Ju replies with a question as he sits down and begins nibbling on some of the chocolate-dipped fruit arrangement. He offers his nephew to light and smudge with the sweet grass before Jim begins recounting his dream during his coma state...

"jaakat nuuwinjiswaan, mawyaa meen kuukuum kaa meesk jaa duumineesuut int kaa uushuuk'shineen." (I almost forgot, here is what your grandmother gave you to use for your wounds for you to rub where you injured) - Ju handing over the bear grease, almost forgetting that it was in his coat pocket.

He adds "kaawii winsjiss jishtikawn kiiyaa jaa tuuminim." (don't forget to rub your head as well)

"Akuuda, jiniskuumitin." (Alright, thanks) replies Saahuun with scintillating smile. He proceeds to balm his wounds, bruises and his head with bear grease. Jimmy ju takes the sweet grass, lights it in prayer of gratitude and aids his nephew with the bear grease application on his legs too.

"So what was your dream about nephew?" asks Ju.

"Aye, ..." Saahuun gets interrupted by the entrance of Don Jitjaan, the gossip queen nurse, who comes in to replace Saahuun's Saline IV bag and greets Jimmy Ju with an overtly flirtatious smize. Ju looks over at Saahuun blankly and Saahuun rolls his eyes back in a "dessuuwii" manner. A clinical nursing student also accompanies Jitjaan as she silently observes beside Jitjaan's side.

"Mr. Jimmy Ju, I heard about your loss. My condolences." - Jitjaan is referring to Ju's dead and much-beloved pug Joey JuJu, who got too-excited and started chasing a herd of Caribou over the winter at the Ju trapline, leaving behind Joey Juju's fate of being trampled corpse as the herd fled the scene.

Saahuun tried his best to keep from laughing at his uncle's dog ironic and tragic death. Joey JuJu eagerly wanted to be a hunting dog despite his physical setback of being a pug with a flat face nevertheless, his uncle always brought him along during his hunting trips for company.

Jimmy Ju, takes another bite off the fruit bouquet and nods his head in silent acknowledgement.

Jitjaan finishes replacing the saline bag and exits promptly to notify his colleague, Dawn Nipii-Oso, also a nurse/Don's hag, about Jimmy Ju's presence. They both start tweeting in excitement about the famous handsome uncle/medicine man that discovered the cure for the common cold. . . The clinical nursing student exits after Jitjaan with a huge silent smile on her face, just like Saahuun, is trying to withhold her laugh as she walks out the door...
